Harps Notes 30th April 2018

posted 1 May 2018, 03:14 by Derrygonnelly Harps

The Harps Lotto jackpot, now £3800, was not won on Sunday night. Numbers drawn were 8, 15, 23 and 28. £20 each went to Damien McAfee, Boho, Donna McGovern, Derrygonnelly, and The McKenna Family, Long Shot. We are in Doogies this Sunday night, with Mary, Donal Corrigan and Gerard Maguire on Harps Lotto duty. We are most grateful for ongoing support of Harps Lotto and for the work of our promoters in selling the Lottos.

The club is flat out at the minute, which is what every club should be. We had a reasonable weekend at adult level with decent wins for our Reserves and Seniors. Our Thirds had a tough hour against an Aghadrumsee outfit, who were able to call upon the services of a fair number of players not on their first thirteen. It is a killer for our thirds when their opponents don’t have a senior game to work around, and that will be the case for the next few fixtures. Nonetheless, we had seventeen fellas up there ready to play, and it is a credit to our management that the thirds are fielding and competing. Thank you also to our sponsors for the 2018 season, Erne Skip Hire. The Thirds are away to Newtown this Saturday, our Reserves are at home versus Teemore on Saturday at 6.30, whilst the senior game this week is on Friday evening at home to Roslea at 7.30.

Our Under 8s and Under 10s had a good day at Lissan on Saturday morning at the Club Eirne blitz. It is becoming a massive event, and all credit to those who organise it. Thank you in particular to our coaches and mentors who kept our squads steered on the day. Our Minors have a big game against Kinawley on Wednesday evening at home at 7.30pm, our Under 15s are Our Under 12s have a journey to Roslea on Saturday morning, with our Under 15s are at home to Teemore on Thursday night.

Our Ladies lost out in a very good match against Aghadrumsee on Friday night last. In a high scoring, very fast exciting encounter, they just ran out of time and lost by the minimum margin.

Just finally, the club would like to acknowledge the work of John Murphy, one of our club referees, who has been taking charge of a number of Ulster academy games recently, and indeed took charge of a big weekend of games at the recent Feiles. As well as that he is our Reserve 'keeper and Senior sub-keeper. All credit to John for his work for the club. Thank you also to Jonny Cameron for his help on the refereeing front.
