Harps Notes 8th May 2017

posted 8 May 2017, 03:51 by Derrygonnelly Harps

Our focus this week is obviously our big cycling events this Saturday. We start off with our 100k Four County Challenge at 10 o'clock, followed by our 50k West Fermanagh Challenge, which departs at 10.30. Our fun 10k spin takes place at 1pm. All cyclists must register to collect their route and refreshment passes, jerseys and final paperwork, and there will be an opportunity for anyone wishing to take part in any of the routes to register on Thursday night in the clubrooms from 7-9pm. Registration for the 50k and 100k is also available from 8.30am on Saturday morning, and from 11.30am for the 10k fun cycle. Please remember that children completing the short spin must do so with adults. The special jersey will be ready for collection at both registration sessions.  We are really looking forward to a very successful event, and are very grateful to all entrants from a wide area, plus our volunteer marshals along the routes.

The club's committee meeting at 9pm sharp on Thursday night will obviously deal in the main with the preparations for the cycle, plus other matters. A full attendance is requested to cover as much as possible.

The Harps Lotto jackpot, now £8300, was not won on Sunday night. The numbers were 3, 7, 19 and 24. £20 each went to John Duffy, Derrygonnelly, Pat Gallagher, Boho, plus Jackie Doogan & Gary Hoy, Monea. We are in The Linnett Inn this Sunday night, with Mary, Peter and Gerry on duty.

On the fixture front, it looks like no senior game this weekend, a trip to Teemore on Friday night, then Enniskillen on Sunday afternoon for the Junior A team, plus a visit by Belcoo for the Junior B lads. Our Under 14s host Kinawley this Thursday night at 7pm. They played three games last week, and are currently third in Division One. Our Under 10s played their first game in the annual tournament last Friday, putting in two very encouraging performances against Derrylin. They are scheduled to play Tempo this Friday evening, but fuller details regarding departures etc, will be available via our online output.

Please note that gear fittings for our next order will take place this Thursday from 7.30 - 9.30pm at the clubrooms, plus after Sunday Footy this week.

It was with sadness that all of our members heard of the passing of Joe McManus and Eamon McGowan last week, both of whom were related to a number of our active members. Condolences to both families.
