Canon Maguire Park is situated just half a mile outside Derrygonnelly, on the left hand side, in the townland called Sandhill. We have two full size Prunty pitches. Our top training pitch was opened in 2003, and has floodlights. Our bottom pitch is the main playing pitch. This pitch was reopened in 2010 after a full reconstruction. Both pitches have high spec spectator fencing and concrete paths around them. The bottom pitch also has a covered spectator stand, and a scoreboard.
The club opened its changing rooms and clubroom facilities on October 5th 2012. We now have four changing rooms, two in our completely refurbished original building, plus two more new ones in our new building. Upstairs in our new building, we have a large multi purpose area, with a kitchen. The solid wood floored space has room for perhaps 150 people. This can be used for meetings, circuit training, plus social events. The facility has a platform lift, full disabled facilities, toilets etc. The new building and the full refurbishment of our original mid eighties changing room were completed from August 2010 to September 2012. What made this massive capital development such an achievement is that the building was constructed on a voluntary labour basis at all stages: foundations, building, joinery, plastering, painting and so on. The final facility is one of the finest in the country, and a great testament to the expertise and goodwill of our volunteer members, friends and supporters.
2012 saw the club as Fermanagh winners in the ‘Best Facility in County’ category of the Ulster Council’s Grounds Awards.
In 2014, the club continued to develop facilities by building a viewing point for journalists and club officials.
The capital spend required to finance the materials for the building is financed by the clubs fundraiser ‘Clairseach Amarach’ ‘Harps for Tomorrow’. This consists of approximately two hundred members from within the parish and also beyond, who donate a monthly sum to the scheme, and others who have made significant one-off donations. Should anyone still be interested in becoming part of ‘Clairseach Amarach’, please contact a member of our club executive, contact details are to be found on our ‘Club Executive and Management’ link from the homepage.
