Donal Corrigan

Donal Corrigan is one of our dedicated Grounds and Development committee members, he was a defensive rock on the infamous 1995 team and is one of the founding members of our upcoming Harps Tour Four County Cycle! A genuine all-round nice guy, and a great Harps man!

NAME: Donal Corrigan

AGE: 40+

FAVOURITE POSITION?   Centre half back

FAVOURITE HARPS’ PLAYERS AT PRESENT? (YOU ARE ALLOWED THREE)

Keeves, probably the best forward in Fermanagh football for 20 odd years, Decy and Eamo

FAVOURITE HARPS’ PLAYERS FROM THE PAST? (YOU ARE ALLOWED THREE)

Sean Flanagan; the complete leader who always ‘walked the walk’

Gary Smyth; he was our ‘go to’ forward

Deano; probably the best all-round footballer I played with, if it wasn’t for injury Paul would have been one of the top footballers in Ulster of his time.

FAVOURITE HARPS GAME AND WHY?

The Ulster Club semi-final replay, it was the biggest game in the clubs history and in my opinion the second half was the best display by a Derrygonnelly team in history of the club.

BEST THING ABOUT THE HARPS AND WHY?

The way the club provides so much for so many, also the club seems to have the right people in the right positions year in year out.

FAVOURITE CURRENT FERMANAGH PLAYERS? (YOU ARE ALLOWED TWO)

Has to be Ryan and Micky, both have developed into top class inter county footballers in the last year or so.

WHO IS THE HARPS MOST DANGEROUS OPPONENT AND WHY?

I think Roslea, if they can gain enough possession around midfield they have forwards who will score if given half a chance

FAVOURITE INTER-COUNTY FOOTBALLERS? (TWO ALLOWED)

Michael Murphy and Colm Cooper.

WHAT ANNOYS YOU IN THE GAA?

How long have we got!!! The imbalance in the championship, ie the number of games an Ulster team would have to play to get to an All Ireland final compared to say Cork or Kerry, as well as the quality of the opposition they would have to face, meaning Ulster teams have to peak from May until September.  I wouldn’t give them any credit for the Sky deal either!!!

HARPS TOUR; 50KM ROUTE OR 100KM ROUTE?

100km route is both challenging and yet stunningly beautiful – but remember it’s not a race! (Although I have Fee in my sights, no probs!)

PAT SPILLANE OR JOE BROLLY?

Spillane

DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE SOCCER PLAYER?

30 years ago and it was Kenny Dalglish

FAVOURITE MUSIC?

Country Music

FAVOURITE FOOD/MEAL?

Thai and obviously anything from Chips & Co

FAVOURITE TV PROGRAMME?

Only Fools and Horses

FAVOURITE HOLIDAY DESTINATION?

Carvoeiro in Portugal

YOU WIN THE HARPS LOTTO, WHAT WILL YOU BUY YOURSELF?

Buy myself a new bike so I can keep up with all the fast cyclists on the Harps Tour!!!  Even though it’s not a race…
